Grand Coulee at a Glance
The Grand Coulee area can be found on the Columbia River Valley Plateau of Washington.
One of the major draws for visitors to this area is the Grand
Coulee Dam, the largest concrete dam in North America. Completed in 1942,
this dam provides irrigation, hydropower and flood control for valley residents,
and also offers a laser light show that is projected across the dam front nightly
throughout the summer. Moses
Lake is the largest city in the area, providing visitors with accommodations
and services, as well as a number of recreational activities ranging from water
sports to picnicking. Washington State's pioneer heritage and Native American
history in the Grand Coulee area are well documented at attractions such as the
Colville
Tribal Museum, which is located in Coulee
Dam. An exciting and enriching historical visit awaits travelers to this part
of Washington.
